Leica Spotting Scopes

The Leica Spotting Scopes set another milestone with their APO-Televid Series.  Both the APO-Televid 65 and APO-Televid 80 are built with not only sophisticated and top-of-the-line optics, but are also robustly engineered and constructed to make these spotting scopes attractive and exceptionally compact in design.  The apochromatic (APO) lenses on both models have better correction than the standard chromatic lenses and better spherical aberration than the commonly used achromat lenses.  The APO optics are also equipped with an optically neutral front filter which reduces or modifies the intensity of all wavelengths and color equally, giving the viewer almost no change in the hue of color rendition.  All of these come together to offer a wide field of view and deliver superior color fidelity, sharp detail resolution, and maximum contrast in their images.  The Leica dual-focus system enables rapid and precise focusing simultaneously and the micro-focusing is ideal for viewing nature from near or far.  The main difference between the APO-Televid 65 and 82 is the diameter of the objective lens, 65 mm and 82 mm respectively, which affects the spotting scopes’ dimensions, weight, and most importantly the amount of light it can take in.  The APO-Televid 65 is best used in daylight while the APO-Televid 82 enables viewing even while under less than favorable lighting conditions.
